Design notes
“Butte” is a geographical term used to describe an elevated rock formation, with a flat top and steep slopes, which stands out from the surrounding landscape. These formations are common in arid areas, especially in the deserts of the southwestern United States, such as the state of Arizona, and are the result of erosion processes over thousands of years. The word “butte” comes from French and means “hill” or “mound”.
